Chemical Peel Northern Virginia

Sun exposure, environmental agents, and decreased cellular turnover, can lead to a rough, dull, and uneven complexion.

Fortunately, a medical-grade chemical peel, such as the Perfect 10 Peel and VI Peel, can gently address a multitude of cosmetic concerns and deliver smoother and brighter skin with minimal downtime.

So, which chemical peel is right for you? Here’s what to expect should you decide to undergo a Perfect 10 Peel or a VI Peel in Northern Virginia.

What is a Perfect 10 Peel?

A Perfect 10 Peel is a medical-grade chemical peel, comprised of a unique acid-blend, retinol complex, and antioxidants, that promotes cellular regeneration.

The treatment is performed in your dermatologist’s office with little to no discomfort and downtime.

Plus, it’s a safe and effective way to improve skin tone and texture, diminish fine lines and wrinkles, and reduce hyperpigmentation for a clearer and more radiant complexion.

What Can Patients Expect From a Perfect 10 Peel Treatment?

The treatment typically starts with removal of make-up and cleansing of the skin. Then the Perfect 10 Peel is applied for 3-5 minutes, and patients may experience a warm and tingly feeling.

Next, the solution is neutralized, and a layer of retinoic acid is applied for at least 5 minutes to calm and soothe the skin.

Post-treatment, skin will appear pink for 1 day, and tightening and peeling will begin within 48 hours.

As skin continues to heal, it may resemble a mild sunburn for about a week. During this time, it’s important not to pick at peeling skin and stay hydrated.

What is a VI Peel?

VI Peel is another medical-grade chemical peel that is safe for all skin types and contains a blend of trichloroacetic acid (TCA), tretinoic acid, salicylic acid, phenol, vitamin C, and other minerals.

It can be used to treat the face, neck, chest, arms, back, legs, and under-eyes and address a variety of skincare concerns. Some of these include: Acne, acne scarring, fine lines, wrinkles, age and sun spots, hyperpigmentation, melasma, rosacea, and enlarged pores.

What Can Patients Expect From a VI Peel Treatment?

Treatment time for a VI Peel is usually 20-45 minutes, and most patients find the procedure to be fairly quick and comfortable.

To start, skin is cleansed and prepped for administration of the VI Peel. It’s applied in layers in order to target dead skin cells and toxins at the surface as well as deep in the dermis.

It’s important to note that once the solution dries, it must remain on the skin for 5 hours before washing your face.

Within 2-3 days, peeling will begin and last up to 6 days. Patients may note red, brown, and yellow tones in their skin and that it looks like a sunburn with flaking.
