Botox was already one of the most popular cosmetic treatments out there–and it was a pretty gender friendly one too.

But trends are going even further than you might think, and “Brotox” is more popular than ever with men especially in the Northern Virginia and Washington DC area.

Just how much more popular is it with men? Over 300 percent more popular since 2000, according to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons.

So, what’s the deal? What’s making men come in droves to this popular injectable?

Competition in the Workplace Is a Major Driving Force of Brotox in Northern Virginia

Believe it or not, looking younger matters for men too. In the workplace, where youth can be an edge over your competition, “Brotox” can be a job saver.

The demographic of men going in for Botox are 35 to 65, usually working a white collar job. Men want to stay fresh, stay looking young, and hold their own in the board room.

Some men even consider dermal fillers such as Restylane and Juvederm to fill facial lines to look naturally younger.

Marketing’s Getting Better

It used to be that anytime you saw pictures advertising Botox it was just women–no wonder men weren’t biting. Simply doing the basic task of targeting men is bringing them in for procedures.

Now, Botox is also being performed in what are called “Brotox caves”–facilities that can perform Botox but also made to look appealing to men. Think mancaves.

Men Can Use Their Spouse for Plausible Deniability

Some doctors say that one of the most common excuses they’ll hear before treating men with Botox is that their spouse wants them to do it. True or not, the excuse is getting men in.

Whether these men really are just doing it for their spouses, or they really care what their profile pic looks like online, it seems that the simple fact of their spouse urging them on makes a big difference on whether they actually take the step or not.
