Botox and Dysport Northern Virginia
Are you considering a neurotoxin like Botox or Dysport, but aren’t sure which one is better? Or if there’s a marked difference between the two at all?
Continue reading to learn all about Botox vs. Dysport for wrinkles, including how each neurotoxin works, their results, their similarities, and their differences.
Botox vs. Dysport for Wrinkles – How Are They Similar?
These two injectable products are composed of botulinum toxin type A and disable targeted facial muscles in order to relax forehead lines, crow’s feet, frown lines, and neck lines.
After undergoing Botox or Dysport, patients can experience smoother, wrinkle-free skin for 4-6 months.
Botox vs. Dysport for Wrinkles – How Are They Different?
Dysport starts diminishing wrinkles and lines 2-5 days after treatment, while Botox takes effect in 4-7 days. Accordingly, Dysport has a quicker onset.
Dysport is a smaller molecule and offers greater diffusion, which means that the product spreads more upon injection.
For some injectors, this is an advantage when treating larger areas like the forehead.
At the same time, they may prefer Botox for smaller, more discrete lines like crow’s feet.
Dysport’s composition is slightly thinner and more viscous, compared to Botox which is thicker and more-concentrated.
This distinction may factor into an injector’s choice to use one product over the other, depending on the case at hand.
Regardless of Which Neurotoxin You Prefer, Choose Your Injector Wisely
While it’s easy to get wrapped up in the neurotoxin, Botox vs. Dysport debate, almost everyone agrees that both products have a high safety profile and rate of efficacy.
In fact, personal preference is often the reason that an injector may favor a particular neurotoxin.
With that being said, the injector, including his or her skills, training, and experience, are far more important than the product being injected.
Therefore, carefully research your provider and insist on treatment from a board-certified dermatologist or plastic surgeon with extensive experience.
