Reasons to See a Dermatologist for Uneven Skin Tone

If you are tired of struggling with hyperpigmentation, its time to see your dermatologist for uneven skin tone. Hyperpigmentation is quite common and is the leading causes of uneven skin tone. However, there are other factors to consider as well.

What Causes Uneven Skin Tone?

While hyperpigmentation is usually the cause behind textured or uneven skin tone, there are other factors that contribute. Pollution, hormone imbalances, and sun exposure can cause uneven skin tone. When the skin is exposed to harmful UV rays, it overproduces melatonin. This leaves the skin uneven and blotchy with dark spots.

Even Skin Tone

How do I get even skin tone? Well, first its important to remember that its very common to have uneven skin tone. Its natural. Furthermore, the perfect skin tone doesn’t exist. Everyone has patches of lighter or darker skin somewhere on their face and body. So, while these treatments and tips will help even out the skin tone, it is not realistic to expect perfect results.

 Balancing Skin Tone

There are a few things you can do to help prevent and improve uneven skin tone. These include:

  • Wear mineral sunscreen every day.
  • Exfoliate regularly, but not more than 1-2 times weekly
  • Have routine skin checks and exams
  • Add retinol or retinoid into your nighttime routine
  • Add topical antioxidant Vitamin C serum to morning routine
  • Don’t pick at skin. Leave acne, cuts etc. alone.
