While wrinkles are a natural part of the aging process, they make some individuals feel uncomfortable with their appearance. When elastic and collagen fibers are injured and the skin incorrectly repairs those fibers, wrinkles occur.

What causes Wrinkles?

Wrinkles can be caused by a number of things, with aging being the most prevalent. Some other causes may be smoking, dehydration, and prolonged sun exposure, along with others. It is important to take good care of your skin as you age to help slow down the formation of wrinkles.

What are Treatment Options?

There are a number of treatments available for individuals who want to get rid of their wrinkles.

Including:

Glycosaminoglycans – are naturally produced by the body to keep the structure and elasticity of the skin. They are also made into topical supplements which are used to slow down the process of aging wrinkles.

Botulinum Toxin – are proteins that are used for both cosmetic and therapeutic use. More commonly known as Botox, is it used to stop the use of the muscles that are causing wrinkles on the face.

Dermal Fillers – similar to Botox, these are injections that are used to get rid of wrinkles on the face.

Laser Resurfacing – this is a resurfacing procedure that helps correct wrinkles on the face and stimulate the production of collagen.
